I only ever wanted to be a teacher and was privileged to spend 34 years working in schools. My experience was as an English teacher, subject leader and then senior leader in secondary schools; I spent 13 years as a Headteacher. Since retiring from the classroom, I have worked as a leadership coach, mainly in primary schools and have also supported Governing Bodies in becoming more effective in their work. I am passionate about the importance of education in giving all young people the very best start in life. As a Governor at this exciting time in the school’s development, I will do all I can to ensure that everything it does helps all children to fulfil their potential.
My name is Chris Bentley and having attended ‘Weston Coyney Infants School’ then later ‘Weston Coyney Middle School’ many years ago it is with great pleasure and pride that I now find myself in the position of Chair of Governors of the newly formed Weston Federation. Both of my children attended both schools which gave them an excellent start in their education, my Son is now a self-employed artist and photographer having achieved a First Class Honours Degree and my Daughter is currently studying at Staffordshire University, aiming for a career in Teaching, so to say that I am proud is an under-statement, all starting with our individual starts at ‘the Infants’…. For many years I have enjoyed a career as a Designer and now run my own business as a Design Consultant specializing in Kitchens, Bedrooms and general interior design…I have also been fortunate to have been able to carry out some exciting design projects in many local schools, which is very rewarding work. My passion for ‘early years’ education is really based on my own and my children’s experiences….these really are some of the best days of our lives and I really believe that we must encourage all of our children to strive to achieve their own individual goals, the results as they get older are so rewarding to see. Having been a Governor of Weston Coyney Infant School for many years, latterly as Weston Heights Infant School, I take great pride in being part of a Governing Body who will continue to support, challenge and encourage the staff and pupils as we all grow together.
My name is Brian Swindles. I am the Link Governor for Safeguarding. Having young children at both the infant and junior schools I enjoy being part of the governing body within the federation, helping to shape the future and ensure a safe learning environment exists within which the children and staff can grow together, reaching and exceeding their own potential.
When not supporting the school in a governor capacity I am a highly motived professional Aerospace Engineer for a large global organisation with a passion to engage children in engineering. This exciting career has presented me with a number of opportunities to share my knowledge and experience with children of varying ages from across the federation, introducing the children to a number of areas of engineering ranging from initial concept design through to make and test projects.
